Mario Calvo Martínez and Màrius Bernadó

This year, the Journées de Ravel festival celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maurice Ravel, who lived for many years in the nearby town of Montfort l’Amaury. As part of the festival, we are glad to host a piano concert by Mario Calvo Martínez, who will perform Modest Mussorgsky’s Paintings at an Exhibition in their original version for solo piano. The concert will be followed by a discussion with Màrius Bernadó, Lecturer in Music History at the University of Lleida, who will introduce us to the fascinating figure of pianist Ricardo Viñes, to whom we owe the first French performance of Mussorgsky’s pieces.
