La pratique artistique de Binta Diaw se déploie au croisement de réflexions philosophiques et historiques sur les phénomènes sociaux qui façonnent notre monde contemporain - la migration, l'appartenance, le rapport à l'histoire et à ses archives, ainsi que les questions de genre. La terre, les plantes, l'eau, la pierre, les cheveux et parfois son propre corps composent un langage visuel qui rappelle sans cesse notre nature organique et mouvante, autant que notre condition d'êtres sociaux et politiques.
Née en 1995 à Milan, Binta Diaw est une artiste sénégalo-italienne, qui vit et travaille entre Milan et Dakar.

Binta Diaw’s artistic practice unfolds at the intersection of philosophical and historical reflections on the social phenomena shaping our contemporary world—migration, belonging, the relationship to history and its archives, and issues of gender. Earth, plants, water, stone, hair, and sometimes her own body form a visual language that constantly evokes our organic, fluid nature, as well as our condition as social and political beings.
Born in Milan in 1995, Binta Diaw is a Senegalese-Italian artist who lives and works between Milan and Dakar.

La pratique d'Emmy Bergsma englobe des dessins monumentaux, des découpages de papier, des films sur iPad, des installations et des performances. Pour elle, dessiner est une forme d'écoute : celle du corps, du monde et de ce qui reste à venir. Les interconnexions entre les êtres humains, les plantes et les paysages sont au cœur de sa démarche. Issue d'une famille de la diaspora, Bergsma a grandi bercée par les récits des philosophies asiatiques de la nature. Les jardins que ses proches ont créés en signe de soin et de continuité continuent d'influencer sa démarche. Plusieurs œuvres ont été faites sur place ou en sont inspirées directement, dont le grand "Soft Power of Plants", donnant une qualité presque corporelle au grand buisson du jardin.
Née en 1960 aux Pays-Bas, Emmy Bergsma vit et travaille à Zwolle.

Emmy Bergsma’s practice encompasses monumental drawings, paper cutouts, iPad films, installations, and performances. For her, drawing is a form of listening—to the body, the world, and what is yet to come. Interconnections between human beings, plants, and landscapes lie at the heart of her work. Coming from a diaspora background, Bergsma grew up immersed in stories rooted in Asian philosophies of nature. The gardens her loved ones created as acts of care and continuity continue to influence her practice. Several pieces were created on-site or directly inspired by it, such as the large 'Soft Power of Plants', giving an almost corporeal quality to the big bush in the garden.
Born in 1960 in the Netherlands, Emmy Bergsma lives and works in Zwolle.

Merci à ceux qui sont venus à notre présentation spéciale de l'exposition "Arbres, nuages et autres corps", à l'occasion d'Art Basel, et en particulier aux artistes qui y étaient toutes les cinq. Une après-midi joyeuse et chaleureuse autour des belles oeuvres.
