Performance of relief, dance and piano

At the Maison Louis Carré, Estonian artist Kaia Kiik will create a Memory Landscape conceived specifically for the house. The work originates from construction materials—cement, plaster—, materials collected from the garden designed by Alvar Aalto, and personal objects entrusted to her in connection with Olga and Louis Carré.

Designed specifically for the venue, the frame resonates with the architecture of the house and incorporates elements of memory within its core. During the performance, the material is deposited, buried, and structured, layer upon layer, in a dynamic dialogue with the dance of Hiie Saumaa and the electric piano of David Catel.

Following this initial public presentation, the work continues its slow outdoor transformation in interaction with the site. Humidity, temperature, drying, and climate all contribute to its evolution. The site then becomes one of the actors in the work, before its unveiling in the autumn exhibition.
